Bassenthwaite Lake Area
Bassenthwaite Lake is the only Lake District body of water with lake in its title, the rest being meres, waters or tarns.
Unfortunately as I write this in December 2007 the lake is silting up badly and has been for a number of years. Perhaps these pictures and others like them will become a historical record of a lake that was if remedial work is not undertaken.
