Derwentwater From Calfclose Bay
Late September 1997 and the Autumn colours haven't really kicked in yet.
Reflections are an obvious choice for any photographer but here I was aware that a yacht in scene would pull the eye and so I set up and waited until the yacht sailed into a central position to draw the viewer almost subconsciously right into the scene.
Availability:
Medium Format Cibachrome and Fine Prints.
Technical Observations:
Without the yacht there would be no anchor point for the eye and the finished composition would be somewhat weaker I feel.
A warm up filter was used to lift the scene away from a too cold blue with colour saturation provided by a polariser.
Digital camera shots are RAW. Film camera shots are scanned from slides or negatives. Resulting digital files are adjusted for sharpness, composition, levels and colour on a computer using digital darkroom software.
